LFMP’s primary objective is to provide members with a forum to exchange ideas, experiences, and information on a wide variety of communications and media issues that members face. We also offer our members opportunities for professional development and mentoring, as well as access to our job listings.

Since its founding, the scope of topics covered has expanded beyond media panels. Today, our event programming offers a broad array of topics and issues involving communicators, including:

  • Reputation management

  • Crisis communications

  • Media relations

  • Content marketing

  • Internal communications

  • Rankings and awards submissions

  • Social media

  • Strategic communications

  • Branding

  • Digital marketing

  • Cause/Social marketing

LFMP shares its insights with its members in informal but fully interactive, monthly meetings which are excellent educational and networking opportunities. The session locations vary and are usually hosted by the offices of the members' firms or panel guests.

Since 2002, many other cities have followed the concept. The most recent additions, Minneapolis and Los Angeles join Washington, D.C., Boston, San Francisco, Houston, and Chicago ( the group is called Legal PR in Chicago).

Each group operates independently under the guidance of local leadership; inquiries regarding any of these affiliates or potential new ones can be made using the contact email on this website.

Over the years, guest speakers have included:

  • Journalists from the major legal trade publications such as American Lawyer and Law360 and some of the most prestigious news affiliates including the Wall Street JournalAssociated PressBloomberg News and Reuters

  • Media specialists and service providers

  • Lawyers

Although we started small, today, we have over 700 members.

LFMP is run by a volunteer board and always welcomes new members who work in the legal public relations and communications sectors.
